Ken Norton(1943-2013) fought three close and exciting boxing matches against Muhammad Ali, winning the first on a split decision (1973) for the NABF heavyweight title while breaking Ali's jaw, but losing the other two. He was WBC heavyweight champ in 1977, the year he earned Fighter of the Year honors. He retired in 1981, and entered the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992. His son, Ken Norton, Jr., an NFL linebacker, helped the Dallas Cowboys and later the San Francisco 49ers to Super Bowl victories.
