Bobby Orr is widely considered one of the top three greatest hockey players in the history of the NHL. He is typically thought of as the greatest defensemen the league has ever seen. Bobby revolutionized the game as a 2-way player. His ability to defend, coupled with his ability to make plays at the other end of the rink and his shot accuracy made him a true threat. He lead the way for players like Ray Bourque, Paul Coffey, Al MacInnis, and Brian Leetch. Even more recent greats like Chris Chelios and Nicklas Lidstrom followed in his steps, becoming leaders among their teams.
This famous shot was taken in 1970 after Orr scored a goal, a mere 40 seconds into overtime, giving the Bruins a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues, a four game sweep in the final, and their first Stanley Cup victory in 29 years.
